As we enter the final week of the April school holidays, we turn our attention to Term 2 and what this looks like for learning during this time of COVID-19.
The Western Australian Premier, Mark McGowan, has announced that school will proceed as usual and our term will commence on Wednesday, 29 April. This is a day later than scheduled to allow our wonderful teachers an additional day of planning.
During the last two weeks of Term 1, we took on more of a supervisory role. This was for those children who were still attending on-site learning, as most of our program was being implemented remotely. From the first day of Term 2, we will be delivering on-site the curriculum that has been designed by our teachers.
Keeping your children at home?
We also understand that parents may wish to continue keeping their children at home during this time. These families will continue to receive at-home learning programs from our teaching staff. These will be released to families shortly and will be in the same mode of delivery as at the end of Term 1.
The dual on-site and at-home learning arrangements will continue to be monitored and – depending on attendance – classes may be modified from their usual schedule. In each case, we will continue to provide for the needs of our whole school community.
If your family is choosing home learning, it is still important to establish daily rhythms which you can read about here.
Sending children to school?
If your children are attending school on-site, we wish to assure you that all prescribed hygiene, cleaning and social distancing measures have been put in place to reduce the spread of Covid-19. During this time, we strongly encourage parents to drop their children at the gate. We also recommend refraining from entering the school or mingling in the area.
Here at Helena River Steiner School, we remain committed to child and community safety. We will continue to follow the advice from relevant government and health authorities and will make adjustments as necessary. Finally, we hope all our community are staying healthy and we truly look forward to seeing you again soon.
