ABOUT US

From little things, big things grow…. Helena River Steiner School  grew from an idea that first took shape in a little parish hall in a Guildford park.

Guildford Steiner Playgroup began in mid 2013. As local parents joined this new group, they discovered the value of the Steiner method in nurturing their children. As we grew and added more educators and families, River Blossom Education Association Inc was formed and the school moved to new premises in Midland.

Our playgroups continued to expand and we also ran several other educational activities, including home school workshops and curriculum support and a Kindergarten program one morning a week.

In 2016 we began our first mixed-age Kindergarten (3-6 years) operating as an Education and Care Service and began the process of applying for school registration. In December of that year, we officially changed our name to Helena River Steiner School, and took on the lease of the property next door for our new primary class. On 26 June 2018, the school formally received non-government school registration.

Over the next few years, the school continued to grow and expand. In November 2020, Helena River Steiner School was granted approval by the Education Minister to add a High School to our educational offering.  We purchased a beautiful property on Stirling Crescent, Hazelmere where we began to establish our second campus.

We now currently operate across two campuses, with our Early Childhood at Spring Park Road, Midland and Classes 1-7 at Stirling Crescent, Hazelmere.  The Hazelmere campus is our forever home, where we aim to have the whole school situated by 2026.  The campus is nestled on the banks of the Helena River, intersecting urban and rural environments, where city meets nature, culture meets culture and family meets community.
